Phyllis Jean (Barker) Mitchell, age 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at The Springs at Oldham Reserve.

Phyllis was raised at the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home in St. Matthews, an experience that shaped her strength and compassion throughout her life. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she found joy in the simple pleasures-especially gardening and tending to her yard, where she felt most connected to nature. Her greatest pride and joy, however, were her grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Jim" Arthur Mitchell; her parents, Otis Theodore Barker and Ruby (Clay) Barker; and her siblings, George Barker, Robert Barker, Betta Brandon, and Janie McGuire.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Kristen Hall (Jeff) and Ursula Tegethoff (Joe), all of Crestwood, Kentucky; her cherished grandchildren, Josie Tegethoff, Jordan Tegethoff, and Nolan Hall; as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends who will remember her with love and admiration.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25, at Pearson Funeral home 149 Breckenridge Lane, with burial to Follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery

Phyllis's warmth, quiet strength, and loving spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
