Phyllis MORRIS

Phyllis Marie Morris, 89, of Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Phyllis will be remembered for her faith, her love of family, and her generous spirit.

Born on July 8, 1936, in Spokane, Phyllis was the daughter of Lina Clarence and Esther Elizabeth Austin. She grew up with siblings Louise, Harriet, and Doug, and enjoyed a joyful childhood filled with music and activity. A student at Lewis and Clark High School, she was a talented baton twirler and xylophone player.

Phyllis married the love of her life, Gerald Gordon Morris, and together they built a family filled with laughter, adventure, and faith. They lived in Cusick, Washington, before making their home in Greenacres in 1962. Phyllis loved camping, fishing at Browns Lake, gardening, and treasuring every moment with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She dedicated more than four decades of service to the Central Valley School District, retiring as lead cook after 41 years. Known for her strength, humor, and playful pranks, Phyllis also found joy in birdsong, feeding squirrels, knitting, and cooking. She was deeply faithful and grounded in her relationship with the Lord. Her love of dancing, traveling, and hosting family barbecues brought warmth and joy to many.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Steven Ray Morris, Rene Lyndell Shearer, and Brad Gordon Morris and Kimberly Marie Lorentz; along with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on October 10, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., officiated by her grandson, Jacob Morris. A memorial service will follow at Foothills Community Church, Spokane, on October 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
