Phyllis A. Nelson, 89, of Humboldt passed away on Saturday morning, September 6, 2025 at the Westview Care Center in Britt following a lengthy illness.
Phyllis was born October 22, 1935 in Hazelton, Iowa the daughter of John H. and Marie L. (Shima) Dibble. She worked many years as a secretary for Hoag’s Plumbing & Heating until she retired. She was united in marriage to the late Erland Nelson on September 16, 1983. The couple made their home in Humboldt. Phyllis enjoyed sewing, baking, bingo, crafting and gardening, (Their garden was big enough to feed the town of Humboldt). Our mother could sniff out a Dairy Queen within a 100 miles as strawberry ice cream was her favorite. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Dakota City.
Phyllis is survived by her children; Vicki (Jerry) Fowler - Arizona, Michael (Faye) Tull – Lansing, Iowa, Gary (Elaine) Tull – Jacksonville, North Carolina, Sue (Dennis) Abbott – Mason City and Roger (Julie) Tull – Maricopa, Arizona. 11 grandchildren; Ben Tull, Eric Tull, Tonya Andrews, Tiffany McClurg, Matt Pentico, Nick Pentico, Grant Mickelson, Ross Tull, Vesta Tull, Bryan Tull and Sgt. Gregory Tull (Deceased). 2 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Erland Nelson and grandson Sgt. Gregory Tull.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11th at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
