Phyllis Overholser of Pine City, MN passed away at home on November 9, 2025 at the age of 90, four days shy of her 91st birthday.
Phyllis was born in South St. Paul, MN to Carl and Blanche Vollbrecht on November 13, 1934. She grew up in a home near Kaposia Park and attended South St. Paul public schools. Phyllis was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church where she belonged to several organizations and sang in the church choir. She married Walter Overholser on May 10, 1952, and had four children.
While raising a family, she worked at Dayton’s in downtown St. Paul and at Target and JC Penny in West St. Paul. In 1980 she ventured from SSP when she and Walt built a new house on land near Cloverdale, MN. She tended to a vegetable garden, fed the birds and cared for several grandchildren. Her working career included Cassidy’s in Hinckley and the Red Shed, and Walmart in Pine City. She was a wonderful gardener, crafter, cook, baker, homemaker and loved to travel. Phyllis enjoyed owning several pets and spending time with her family; she made every holiday special. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City, MN for many years.
Phyllis is survived by her children Steve (Chris) Overholser of Burnsville, Sherry Overholser of Brooklyn Park, Karen Overholser of Pine City; grandchildren Stacy, Rob, Jon, Mike, Kelly, Joey, and Matt; great-grandchildren Alicia, Joe, Jesse, Jade, Cole, Gunnar, Griffin, Gavin, Peyton, and Emma; great-great grandson Jeriko; sister Carol; other relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Carl and Blanche Vollbrecht; husband Walt Overholser; and daughter Sue.
Funeral services for Phyllis: 11:00 AM; Tuesday (11/18) at Zion Lutheran Church of Pine City with a time for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. There will also be a time of visitation Monday (11/17) from 5-7 PM at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Immediately following services at Zion, a fellowship lunch will be served for all in attendance.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City ~ Swanson Chapel.
