Phyllis Jean Catherine Cousino Rizzo, age 90, of Rochester, MI, passed away October 25th, 2022, from complications due to COPD. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Eleanor Cousino, loving husband Nick Rizzo, and sisters Lois Atwood and Rita Fortune. Dear mother of Tony (Sue) Rizzo, Jeanne (Chris) Palazzolo, Cindy Bozynski
(Fiancé Frank Benion), and Bob Rizzo. Cherished grandmother of Matthew (Lisa), Nicole (Damon), Kimberly, Stephanie, Alexandria, Lindsay (Casey), Brittany (Dan), Tracy, Renee, and Natalie, great grandmother of Dominic, Aliza, Yena, Gabrielle, Sofia, Cain, Quinn, Charlotte and Lila
Phyllis was born in Detroit, MI on March 27, 1932. Phyllis began her work career in Detroit at the age of 18 and married Nick at 23. They moved to Rochester in 1957, raised their children and stayed in Rochester for the remainder of their years.
She loved her family and extended family and was always up for a party. She was very close to her children and grandchildren. She made every effort to attend every dance recital or event she could. She was very talented and taught herself how to sew, reupholster, paint, and wallpaper - to name a few. Phyllis worked most of her adult life; she held various positions until her retirement. She was also the treasurer for numerous bowling and golfing leagues. Phyllis absolutely loved board and card games, especially scrabble and pinochle and even at 90, she could still beat her opponents at scrabble.
Phyllis fought a great battle with COPD but remained steadfast in hopes of having more time to spend with her family. She held a strong faith and attended Catholic mass when she could.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis's memory may be made to Leader Dog. Visitation will take place at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home in Rochester on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 11:00 A.M at St. Irenaeus Church.
