Donna Clegg Obituary

Donna L. Clegg
Westland, Michigan
Donna Lee Clegg, age 89, passed away November 1, 2025. She passed away peacefully at Heart-to-Heart Hospice, with family by her side. She is survived by her sons, Chris (Catherine) Clegg; Scott (Kotomi) Clegg, Todd (Andrea) Clegg; grandchildren, Lane (Jacob) Current and Paige (Andrew) Klooster, Alex and Lauren Clegg, Kyle and Rye Clegg; four great-grandchildren, Harper Klooster, Joseph Current, Lily Klooster, and Matthew Current; and sister, Sandra (Fred) Sill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Beatrice Rye; her beloved daughter, Jill Clegg, and her beloved husband of 68 years, Duane Clegg.
Donna was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on June 22, 1936, and grew up in Pickford, Michigan. As the eldest of five girls, she was a responsible and disciplined daughter and sister. A good student, she developed a talent for cooking and homemaking, along with writing and bookkeeping as a career. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Duane, and they headed downstate to settle in Brighton, Michigan. Through hard work and persistence, Donna and Duane founded a group of family businesses – D&D agency, DLC Trucking, and Chief's Trucking. Donna managed the bookkeeping for all the business units, while at the same time managing the household and raising four children. She also played a significant role in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who all loved to visit and play with her, whether that be tea parties, playing in the yard, playing with toy cars, or riding on the lawn tractor and wagon. Baking green Christmas Tree cookies with Grandma was a highlight of many a holiday and will be a cherished memory for all her grandchildren.
She loved her family dearly and always kept in touch with a weekly call to check in, share news, or just have a pleasant chat. She loved to read and often shared and exchanged books with her granddaughters. She was a whiz at puzzles and always had one in progress on her living room table. She especially loved to sit out on her deck with her dog, Tiny, to watch the birds, deer, turkeys, and other wildlife that visited her yard daily.
Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister, she was so loved by her family. We will miss her dearly, but we are so very grateful for our time with her and for the many ways she enriched our lives. She was a true beacon in our lives – a model of love of family. We pray she rests in eternal peace.
The family has chosen to celebrate Donna's life privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Pickford Museum at https://www.pickfordmuseum.org or to leave an online condolence, please visit https://www.modetzfuneralhomes.com
