Phyllis Comette Salls, of Easley, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 99 at Manna Post Acute.
Born on June 23, 1926, in Randolph, Vermont, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Benoir and Phyllis Day. Phyllis spent most of her life in her hometown before moving to Easley, South Carolina, in August of 2021 to live with her daughter, Beverly. Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who radiated warmth and joy. Her heart drew family and friends into her embrace with her ready laughter, her love for sharing jokes, and her vibrant spirit. She cherished the times spent with those she loved and found delight in the simple pleasures of life such as country music, square dancing, and tending to her lovely flowers, often accompanied by the birds that visited her garden. Residing with Beverly, Phyllis often found companionship and joy in her daughter’s dog, Gracie, whom she lovingly referred to as her baby. Their bond brought laughter and light into her days, perfectly complementing her affectionate and caring nature. Known for her ability to see the best in everyone around her, Phyllis was a beacon of positivity and love, always encouraging others to embrace goodness.
Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Beverly LaPlante; a son, Ronald Comette; a stepsister, Judy Benoir; a stepbrother, Lawrence Benoir; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Donald Comette; her first husband, Armond Comette; her second husband, Hiram Salls; twin brother, Phillip Benoir; and eleven other stepbrothers and stepsisters.
