Phyllis Shelton

Phyllis Shelton, lovingly known as "Susie" by her family and friends, passed away at the age of 79 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY on September 18, 2025. Born on February 5, 1946, Phyllis lived a life full of love, service, and devotion to her family, church and community. Phyllis was a cherished daughter of the late Chester Shelton and Dorsa Mullins Shelton of Drift, KY. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and sisters, Romana Shelton Stewart, Judy and Alfreida Shelton. She is survived by her siblings, Marcella Shelton, Mary Reba Shelton, Bruce Shelton, Carol Shelton, Debra (Chester) Tackett, Shelia Shelton, Arbutus (Steve) Kidd, Anita Hall, Doug Shelton, Albert (Paula) Shelton, and Gilbert (Patsy) Shelton. She also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephew, cousin and extended family who will deeply miss her presence. Phyllis spent her life as a homemaker, known for her kindness, generosity, and love for others. She cooked and cleaned for many in her community, always offering a helping hand and a warm heart. Her love for animals and nature was evident in her daily routine, especially in her fondness for feeding the wild birds around her home. A devoted member of the Old Beaver Regular Baptist Church, Phyllis found strength and comfort in her faith. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. . Phyliss will remember for her selflessness, her love to buy others Christmas Gifts, her love of Nature, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

Visitation will be after 6pm Friday (September 19, 2025) at the Old Beaver Old Regular Baptist Church, Minnie, KY with services starting at 6:30pm

Funeral services will be held 12pm Saturday (September 20, 2025) at the church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Drift Cemetery, Drift, KY under the direction of Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, KY
