Weigel Funeral & Cremation ServicesPhyllis Ann Skager, 77, Center, passed away suddenly Monday, October 13th, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025 at Washburn United Methodist Church in Washburn, ND. Burial will follow at the Deapolis Cemetery after lunch. Visitation will he held at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan, ND from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM followed by a prayer service.
Phyllis Bubel was born on February 23rd, 1948, to Alton and Shirley Bubel in Bismarck, ND. She was raised in Center, ND on the family farm. She attended a country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Center High School in 1966. She attended Dickinson State University and worked as a waitress while attending college. She met Robert Skager at the arena on their family farm. They were married on October 19th, 1968 in Center, ND at the Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two sons, Jason and Chad. The boys were involved in several activities which kept the family busy.
Phyllis enjoyed participating in the Old Settlers Day Center Stage Musical. She also could be found in her kitchen cooking, baking and canning. She loved planning parties especially shop parties and making people happy. No one had more friends; she loved and was loved. She was a member of United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary. She also served on the Center School Board.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 56 years Robert of Center, Sons, Jason (Sarah) of Underwood, ND and Chad (Tanya) of Taylor, ND; grandsons Clayton and Lucas; step grandchildren Charlotte, Molly, and Sam; brothers John, Howard, Bruce (Patty) and Mark (Linda) Bubel; brothers-in-laws Warren (Connie) Skager and Marvin Dietz.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters-in-laws Diane Bubel and Donness Dietz
