Phyllis Andrews Tate, a cherished resident of
Washington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in
Washington, North Carolina on August 24, 1943, Phyllis spent her life in the town she loved, surrounded by family and friends.
Phyllis's life was enriched by her passions and deep connections with those around her. She had a great love for playing the piano, finding joy and solace in its melodies. Her beloved cat, Snickers, was a constant companion and brought her much happiness over the years. Phyllis's heart was filled with devotion to her family, especially enjoying the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Phyllis had a true heart for the Lord and dedicated much of her time to teaching teen and children's church, nurturing the spiritual growth of many young lives. She adored Christmas, reveling in the festive season and the warmth it brought through gatherings with her loved ones.
Phyllis treasured visits with family and friends, often staying connected through long conversations on the phone, where her laughter and kindness could be felt by all.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lindsey Roland Tate; her father, Guy Andrews; mother, Beaulah Wagoner Andrews; sister, Becky Bradshaw; and brothers, Guy C. Andrews Jr. and Larry Andrews. Her memory will be cherished by her surviving family: her son, Travis Lin Tate; daughter, Kimberly Tate Bousquet and husband Ron; and her grandchildren, Travis Tate Jr. and his wife Shasta, Justin Thomas Tate, Megan Warren and husband Joey, Jennifer Warren and husband Cameron, Kali Jenkins and husband Sean, and Lindsey Gelegonya and husband Will.
Phyllis's legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Tara Tate, Luke Tate, Simon Tate, Travis Tate III, Joseph Tate, Greyson Tate, Sailor Tate, Skylar Tate, Conner Benson and fiancée Madison, Breanna Benson, Kaylee Benson, Aleeah Benson, Joshua Warren, Emilee Warren, Adalynn Warren, Kayden Jenkins, Kynlee Jenkins, Avery Jenkins; and her great-great-grandchild, Chloe Benson.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both held at The River Church, (5160 NC-92 E, Bath NC 27808) . Phyllis's life will be celebrated as she is laid to rest, remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
