Phyllis "Skipper" Walters

Phyllis (Skipper) Walters went to be with Jesus on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on July 13, 1941, in Elizabethton, TN to Lula Taylor Elliot and Red Sim Elliott. She was preceded in death by her son Jackson Ray Slagle, her grandson Jacob Honeycutt, sister Jenny Tench, and brother Sonny Elliott.

While living in Elizabethton, TN she worked for the Chamber of Commerce. She later moved to Charlotte, NC where she also worked for the Chamber of Commerce. After moving to Ocean Isle Beach, NC she worked as a marketing professional representing various companies.

While living in Charlotte she met the love of her life Dean Walters. Phyllis was a wonderful wife and mother raising four children while supporting her husband and managing a career. She loved passionately and was equally as feisty and determined. A true example of grace and grit.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Dean Allen Walters, three children, daughter - Robin Slagle Lewis, (Chris), granddaughters Ashley Lewis and Grace Lewis, daughter - Candy Slagle, grandchildren Bobby Cothran (Heather), Candace Johnson (Jason), Kelsey Switzer (Zach), and Karen Werner (Mark), Son - Scott Dean Walters (Tina), grandchildren Ashley Fletcher and Allen Walters, granddaughter Abigail Honeycutt. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10:00am, Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am.
