Pierce Dodson

Richard "Pierce" Dodson, 77, of Lebanon, Tennessee, went to his eternal home on March 2, 2026, at his residence. He was born July 30, 1948, in Lebanon, Tennessee, to the late Pierce William Dodson and Jewel Davis Dodson.

On September 4, 1969, Pierce married the love of his life, Barbara Gallman Dodson, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon. They shared 56 years of marriage together.

Pierce graduated as salutatorian from Castle Heights Military Academy in 1966. He later earned his Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1978.

For over 40+ years, Pierce faithfully served as a pastor in churches throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. His ministry was marked by a deep passion for missions, traveling to many countries to preach and teach the Gospel. In addition to his pastoral work, he served as an adult education teacher at the Wilson County Adult Learning Center, where he dedicated himself to helping others continue their education.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Dodson; son, Jonathan (Heather) Dodson, Kaden and Kolton; daughter, Rachel (Josh) McWaters, Chayton, Jaxon, Kynlee; sister, Patsy Plumlee; brother, Bill Dodson (Carol) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service will be held at Sellars Funeral Home, 313 West Baddour Parkway in Lebanon, Tennessee, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will take place Friday, March 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
