Mr. Raleigh Eugene "Pug" Dodson

Mr. Raleigh Eugene Dodson, affectionately known to most as "Pug" entered eternal rest on March 4, 2026, at Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center, Danville, Virginia.

"Pug" was born on May 4, 1937, to the late Charlie George Dodson and Fannie Robertson Dodson in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was educated in the Pittsylvania County School System. He was employed by Haymes Brothers Inc. for many years.

"Pug" was known for sharing jokes that made people laugh first and think a little afterwards, each one carrying its own small piece of wisdom. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the home house on Motley's Mill Rd. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, eating good, watching westerns, and watching his beloved Dodger's play.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two daughters, Laura Dodson and Sheila Dodson; two sons, Timothy Dodson and David Dodson; and six brothers, Lawson Dodson, Walter "Spook" Dodson, Sr., James "Ned" Dodson, Willie Dodson "Sike", Daniel Dodson and Joe L. Dodson.

Pug leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Cynthia Dodson of Dry Fork, VA.; four sons, Carroll Dodson of Capron, VA., Antonio Dodson, Charles Dodson (Robin), and Raleigh "Milton" Dodson all of Dry Fork, VA.; one sister, Margaret Dodson Robertson, a daughter in law, Judy Dodson of Danville, VA.; three sisters in law, Carolyn Dodson of Chatham, VA., Alma Dodson and Violeen Dodson both of Danville, VA. and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life service for Mr. Raleigh E. Dodson "Pug" will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church, 857 Java Road, Java, Virginia. Rev. Antonel Myler, Sr., Pastor, Bishop Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., Eulogist, Pastor, Trinity Missionary Baptist Church Of God In Christ Petersburg Virginia. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery 857 Brownsville Height Lane Java Virginia 24565

A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment Danville Virginia.

The family is asked to assemble at 11:45 a.m. at the residence on the day of the service.
