Pierre Richard Pierre
May 30, 1960 – July 1, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Pierre Richard Pierre on July 1, 2025, in East Orange, NJ, at the age of 65. Born in Jeremie, the capital city of Haiti's Grand'Anse department, Pierre was a beloved family man, devoted father, and cherished member of his community. His life was deeply rooted in Haitian cultural traditions, which he embraced and shared with those around him.
Early Life and Family
Pierre was born on May 30, 1960, to the late Thomas Pierre and Sermane Philizaire in Jeremie, Haiti, a region known for its vibrant cultural heritage. He is survived by his son, Max Abraham Pierre; grandchildren, Grace and Jeremy Pierre; brother, Fritzner Philizaire; sisters, Marie Josette Philizaire and Marie-Andre Philizaire; and numerous nephews and nieces. His presence will be deeply missed by all.
A Life of Passion and Dedication
Pierre lived a vibrant life, embodying the Haitian spirit of community and resilience. He embraced roles as a mentor, soccer and volleyball coach, and fitness trainer for both children and adults, reflecting the Haitian tradition of konbit, a communal work system where communities come together to support one another. His unwavering commitment to fitness was evident in his daily workouts, a routine he never skipped, aligning with the Haitian value of discipline and health.
As an avid sports enthusiast, Pierre followed soccer and basketball with fervor, often sharing his excitement with family and friends, a common practice in Haiti where sports like soccer are deeply ingrained in the culture. Just days before his passing, he inquired about a basketball game from his hospital bed, a testament to his enduring passion. Those conversations will be deeply missed by his loved ones.
Pierre's life also reflected the Haitian emphasis on family and community. He cherished spending time with his family, nurturing their interests and encouraging their dreams, a value central to Haitian culture where extended families often live together and provide mutual support. His generosity and sense of humor were hallmarks of the Haitian spirit of hospitality and joy, even in the face of adversity.
