Fort Kent, ME and Frostproof, FL - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the Plourde family announces the passing of Pierre Richard Plourde, 52, following a tragic accident on September 14th 2025 doing what he loved most on a beautiful, sunny day on Lake Clinch in Florida. He was welcomed to his final home by his Lord and reunited with his parents, Daniel and Diane (Levesque) Plourde.

Pierre was born April 14, 1973, and raised in Fort Kent where he spent most of his life until relocating to Florida in recent years. He grew up the second oldest of five and the oldest of "The Plourde Brothers." In his younger years, when not beating on and toughening up his brothers, as brothers do, he was an avid wrestler and fierce competitor for the Fort Kent HS wrestling team. Following high school, he proudly joined and served his country in the United States Army and National Guard.

Pierre was the epitome of work hard, play hard and love hard.

Pierre learned the trade of masonry from his father, and upon his return to Fort Kent, instilled with the value of hard work, he spent years alongside his father and brothers as Normand Plourde and Sons (NPS). Tied to the strong family NPS name was a reputation for high quality work and a job well done. It was evident to anyone that watched him work that Pierre possessed physical strength that was not typical. He was impressively and indescribably strong and powerful, and, oftentimes, underestimated his own strength. In the years following his parents passing, Pierre worked for White Oak Logging where he enjoyed driving an 18-wheeler and pushing the limits with his loads. With a smile and a chuckle, we can still hear him say, "Go big or go home!" He later returned to his roots to work with his brothers at Ground Tek Inc. where the boys shared many long days working hard, which included some trash talking, joking and laughing, but most of all, time together. He leaves behind many friends from both the logging and concrete industries.

When the weekends rolled around or he had free time, Pierre loved doing anything outdoors. Play time usually involved something with a motor and a throttle or fixing it after running it too hard. He especially enjoyed riding boat on Eagle Lake in the summer, riding side by side in the fall and racing snowmobiles in the winter. He played and lived his life in "full send" mode doing what he enjoyed with the people he loved, especially his family.

Pierre considered himself to be a blessed man even though life wasn't always easy. A gentle giant with a heart of gold who gave the best hugs. Pierre cherished time spent with those he cared about and loved. He was kind to strangers and those he knew alike. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He volunteered with the snowmobile club, the Eagle Lake Fire Dept, and was a Knight of Columbus. He was also a proud member of the American Legion. He was the kind of guy that truly cared if someone was hurting and could bring a smile to anyone's face within moments of talking with him. He was known as a strong man who could sometimes be stubborn but that came with a soft heart, genuine smile and a hearty laugh. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, who will always be remembered for living life to the fullest.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Karen Plourde; his sons DJ (Julie) and Andre (Ashley) and their daughters Madison and Avery; his sister, Nathalie and her husband, Felipe Medel; his brothers, Pascal, Bruce and his wife, Meagan, and Richard Plourde. Special nephews and niece Cristian, Alejandro, Stephan, Jonathan, Aries and Callie. Also, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Daniel (2002) and Diane (2009).

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, September 27, 2025 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E Main Street., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
