Pluma U. Bibbee: A Life Woven with Love
Pluma U. Bibbee, age 84, of Crest Hill, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the comfort of her own home.
Pluma was born on May 25, 1941, in Sylacauga, AL, the daughter of the late James Calvin Hall and Mary Eunice Galloway. On December 24, 1966, she married her best friend and soulmate, James R. Bibbee, sharing nearly 55 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.
Pluma was the proud mother of five children. She held various part-time jobs throughout her life, dedicated to helping provide for her family and raising her children. Pluma had a deep passion for needlework and crafting. She was an avid seamstress, lovingly creating Easter outfits for her children when they were young and doll clothes for her four girls' Barbie collections. Pluma and James enjoyed crafting together, with James using the wood saw and Pluma taking pride in assembling and painting their wonderful creations.
Later in life, Pluma became a master quilter. She spent many hours cutting out tedious fabric patterns and assembling them into beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilted masterpieces that her family will cherish forever.
Family
Pluma's legacy is carried on by her five devoted children: Charles Epperson, Sharon Daily, Zondra Downen, Teresea (Robert) Potier, and Lillie (Michael) Mongello. She was a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two siblings, Mary Emma Thompson and Robert Joseph Hall, along with many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James, three sons-in-law, Patrick Bowler, Drew Daily, and Billy Ray Downen, and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Epperson.
Service Information
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 24021 Royal Worlington Dr., Naperville, IL, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Pluma will be inurned along with her late husband, James, with military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, at a later date.
