Popi Dakis

In loving memory of Penelope Dakis.
Our dear mother, Penelope (Popi) Dakis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her entire family on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Penelope was born on June 3, 1933 in the village of Metaxata on the beautiful island of Kefalonia, Greece. She left Kefalonia at the age of 16 to come to the United States when the island was destroyed by an earthquake. When she came to America, she lived with her Uncle George Antipas and his family in Boston until she was married in 1959. She married the love of her life, Konstantinos Dakis. Together, they had four children - Michael, Anna, Gerasimos, and George. Along with their spouses, Grace, Marinos, Irene, and Olga, the house was never short of laughter and was always filled with happiness and love. Penelope's growing family helped to ease her sorrows after losing her beloved husband, Kosta, when she was so young.
Her children were her pride and joy along with her 11 grandchildren - Vasilios, Penelope, Konstantinos, Epatia, Anastasia, Konstantinos, Christina, Konstantine, Khristopher, Matthew, Spiro, and her great-grandson, Marinos.
She was an outstanding mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who impacted many lives by her faith, wisdom, humor, and kindness. She will be greatly missed. May her memory be eternal.
