Porter Gene Hood, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the age of 92. Loving husband of the late Peggy Hood; beloved son of the late Fenton L. and Thela B. Hood; devoted father of Gary D. (Daffany) Hood, David G. Hood, and Roy L. (Sue) Hood; father-in-law of Kim Hood; cherished grandfather of April (Shawn) Davidson, Jessica (Roger Johnson) Hood, Christopher (Danielle) Hood, Neale (Angela) Glass, Bradley (Emily) Hood, Victoria (Corey) Menke, Rebecca (Mitchell) Hood, Aimee (Cyrus Taylor) Hood, and Samuel Hood; treasured great-grandfather of Mikel, Thomas, Savannah, Camden, Brecken, Brandon, Addyson, Nolan, Nora, Noah, Walter, and Roy. (Cindy, survives) Hood; his brothers, Raymond (Gloria) Hood, and Dean Hood; two Grandchildren, Melissa Marie Hood and Jamie Glass; and his great-granddaughter, Rebecca Ann.
Married to the love of his life, Peggy, for 55 years, Porter cherished every moment they shared together. They enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida for nearly 20 years, and making memories with their beloved grandchildren. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Porter served his country for two years and carried that same sense of dedication throughout his life. He was a hardworking man who owned a body shop, managed rental properties, and once repaired radios and televisions.
Faith played an important role in Porter’s life. A devout Baptist, he served as a deacon and sang in the church choir. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Shriners Hospital. Known for his friendly and outgoing nature, Porter never met a stranger. He loved coaching his sons’ little league teams and treasured every experience he shared with his grandchildren.
Porter was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Porter's name to The Salvation Army.
