Portia Aileen Shirley

Portia Aileen Shirley, 79, of Westminster, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 22, 2025, at her home.
Born August 11, 1946, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Irene (Sheffey) Smith.
Portia spent most of her working career in the transportation department at Penguin Random House, dedicating over 30 years. She was a woman of deep faith, joyful spirit and adventurous heart. She had an infectious enthusiasm for life, especially when it came to her favorite pastime-going on casino bus trips. Her love for these trips was more than just about the casinos; it was about the friendships she nurtured, the laughter she shared, and the memories she created with loved ones. She was an avid Bible reader and Ravens fan. Portia loved making her infamous sweet potatoes, watching the NFL network, soap operas, and doing word search puzzles. She will be deeply missed by many.
Surviving Portia are her cherished children Angie Toop of New Windsor, Robert Bell Jr., and fiancé Wanda Cortez of Kenner, LA, and Eboni Shirley of Westminster; siblings Elaine Smith and Larry Smith of Westminster; grandchild Kellen Toop and wife Brooke of Manchester; great grandchildren Colbin and Tylee (TNT); longtime best friend Charlotte Willis (Poonie) of New Windsor; sister in law Edna Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother George Smith Sr., and niece Kathy Smith.
The family will welcome friends on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. Homegoing services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11am at the funeral home. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed.
