Obituary of Prahlad Gopalachar Rattehalli
Prahlad Gopalachar Rattehalli, 93, of Niskayuna, NY and formerly of Bangalore, India, peacefully entered into eternal life on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, he was the son of the late Gopalachar Rattehalli and the late Jayasheela Gopalachar and was a graduate of B.M. Srinivasiah College of Engineering, Bangalore from where he received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Beloved husband for 65 years to Vasantha Prahlad Rattehalli, devoted father of Vijay (Sunita) Rattehalli, cherished grandfather to Varun and Priyanka and also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends both stateside as well as in India.
Prahlad was much loved by his family and friends. He took full care of his dear wife with a lot of love, although he himself did not have any other family of his own. He enjoyed his work as an Electrical Engineer, supporting his family and loved the company of his dear friends in Shahabad, India. His hobbies, interests, attributes, etc., included gardening, playing chess or simply enjoying the progress made by his son over the years. He was a very simple and humble person for whom taking care of his family at all times was so important. For simple pleasures in life, eating tasty food and sweets like Gulab Jamoon and Rasa Gulla meant a lot more than anything else.
A Hindu Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, May 6, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Gardner Earl Memorial Chapel and Crematorium, 186 Oakwood Avenue, Troy, NY 12182, where cremation will follow at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Prahlad's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all their friends and family from near and far for including Prahlad in local social events throughout his active life and providing support to their family following is demise.
Those desiring, may make memorial donations to the Albany Hindi Temple, 450 Albany-Shaker Rd., Albany, NY 12211, in memory of Prahlad G. Rattehalli.
