Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Snellville on Apr. 25, 2025.
Prasad Philipose, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 67. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and commitment to family and community.
Born in Pune, India, Prasad was the son of the late Mr. P.K. Philipose of Valiaveetil, Konni, and the late Mrs. Rajamma Philipose of Vadakkedathu, Omalloor. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Beena Mary Philipose (née Mary George) of Kizhakekachukuzhiyil, Valakuzhi. Their enduring partnership was built on mutual respect, dedication, and shared values. Together, they created a life anchored in hard work, family, and community.
Prasad was the proud father of Arati, Anjali, and Alex, and a supportive father-in-law to Erik Jarrett. He found deep purpose in his role as a grandfather to Andy and Anna, who brought light and joy into his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Retired Commander John Philipose and Mr. Pradeep Philipose, and by his brothers-in-law, Mr. George Mathew (Babu) and Retired Colonel BK George (Bhanu). His extended family-nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends-held a special place in his life, as he did in theirs.
Prasad did his schooling and undergrad in Vizag, and Masters in Shillong, India. He began his career in India with Pfizer, where he worked for over 16 years. He and his young family initially settled in Trivandrum, Kerala, where he became an active member of the local community and the Trivandrum Club. In 1997 they immigrated to the United States, where Prasad transitioned into IT staffing, working with firms such as Allied Informatics and Pyramid Consulting. Later, he founded Philips Realty of Metro Atlanta, earning a reputation for integrity and care in serving his clients.
Prasad was a man of many interests. He was an avid tennis player and, in later years, taught himself to play the piano. He took great joy in playing old Hindi songs and would often share musical birthday greetings with loved ones. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren-playing, chatting, or simply being present. Prasad also supported Beena's love for gardening and travel, joining her in tending their plants or planning their next trip. He was known for his hospitality and warmth. Whether among close friends or new acquaintances, he had a way of making people feel welcome. His calm demeanor, thoughtful nature, and quiet humor made him a steady presence in the lives of many.
Prasad was active in the church and the broader community. He was a longtime member of St. Thomas Orthodox Church and a founding member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church of Atlanta. He was also involved in cultural organizations such as the Greater Atlanta Malayalee Association (GAMA) and the Indo-American Press Club, contributing his time to preserve and celebrate his cultural heritage.
Atlanta was home to Prasad for over 25 years. During that time, he touched many lives through his humility, kindness, and dedication to those around him. His life was marked not by fanfare, but by quiet contributions and meaningful relationships.
Prasad leaves behind a legacy of character, devotion, and generosity that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Mary's Orthodox Church of Atlanta in Roswell, GA, services begin at 9 AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please consider a memorial donation to Children's Heathcare of Atlanta, ( https://www.choa.org/) in memory of Prasad Philipose.
