With a profound sense of sorrow, we announce the passing of Prathima Srinivasan, who left us on December 7th, 2025. Born on October 6, 1943, in the vibrant city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, Prathima was a beacon of light, illuminating every room she entered with her wisdom, warmth, and grace. As Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." And Prathima, with her loving heart, made everyone feel special. She was everybody's friend or advisor!
Prathima's journey from her birthplace, Chennai, led her on a path of intellectual curiosity and achievement. As a young woman, she excelled herself graduating from Queen Mary's college in Physics and a degree in Industrial management from XLRI. Later as a mother she qualified herself as a school teacher. She began her career as a maths and science teacher at Poorna Prajna Education Center in Bangalore, where she shaped many young students lives. She was married to Prof R. Srinivasan, professor of Physics at IISc. After her husband's passing, she transitioned and had a fruitful career as a Scientific Associate at the esteemed Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India, from where she retired in 2005.
In her retirement, Prathima split her time between her daughters' homes in Madison, Connecticut and West Windsor Township, New Jersey, where she was surrounded by her loving daughters, Sujaya and Subasree and their families. Her spirit of generosity, wisdom, and love will forever be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sampath Kumaran and Lakshmi Kumaran.

As we mourn her departure, let's celebrate her life and the joy she brought to us all. She leaves behind her two daughters Subasree and Sujaya, sons in law Sunil Dcunha and Avinash Nidumbur, and grandchildren, Sandeep, Ashwin, Viraj, Rohan and Shreyas.
