Preston Cheek was born on May 24, 1934, in Hearne, Texas, to the late Isaac Myers Cheek and the late Christine Leon Hicks Cheek. He was one of eleven children, eight of whom preceded him in death.

Preston attended Lowell High School in San Francisco, California. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged following his service to his country. He later worked for Borden's Milk Company, where he was recognized for his dedication and safe driving record.

Those who knew Preston will remember his warm spirit and his love for cooking, especially barbecuing, a cherished skill passed down from his father. He also found joy in fishing and hunting, and throughout his life he was honored by organizations such as The Legion of Honor and Borden's Milk Company for his commitment and excellence.

In November 1960, Preston married Dorothy Lee Glover. Together they had four children: three sons; Joseph Allen, David Allen, and Milton Preston; and one daughter, Linda Dianne. His sons Joseph and Milton preceded him in death.

Preston's journey on this earth was deeply guided by his faith in God. He lived out his spiritual calling through his dedicated service at First AME Zion Church in San Francisco, CA, where his devotion touched the lives of many.

On August 10, 1985, Preston married Rosa Ocoro Castillo. Together they built a loving family with two children, Preston Jr. and Mirna Christina.

Although Preston is no longer with us, his life will serve as a testament of love, faith and family. His laughter, kindness and unwavering devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He leaves a legacy of love, faith and strength. This legacy will continue to shine through his family and all who were blessed to know him.

Preston will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Rosa; daughters, Linda and Mirna; sons, David and Preston Jr.; sister, Christine Brown; brother, Richard Cheek; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
