Priscilla Brekus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pearson Funeral Home, Inc. - Bethlehem on Feb. 3, 2026.
Priscilla Ann Brekus, 97, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, where she had made her home for more than 20 years.

Born April 7, 1928, in Harrison, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James Jr. and Elizabeth (Ames) Humphry. She was the beloved wife of Charles Henry "Charlie" Brekus, who died in 1978.

Priscilla was a woman of intelligence, independence and curiosity. She attended Wheelock College and the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston before beginning her career in New York City. She later earned her bachelor's degree from Cedar Crest College in Allentown.

After moving to Bethlehem with her husband in 1969, she worked as a real estate agent and served her community as a member of the Hanover Township Planning Commission. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church and an active participant in committees at Kirkland Village.

For many years Priscilla and Charlie enjoyed sailing their ocean-going 36-foot sailboat, the "Cilla Ann," from its base on the Jersey shore along the Eastern Seaboard and up to Maine. Later in life she enjoyed boating with her sons on nearby Lake Nockamixon.

After Charlie's passing, Priscilla traveled with friends, visiting Holland, Malta, Africa, Antarctica, Alaska, and a river trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. She also took the immediate family to summer vacations on Cape Cod and a Disney cruise to the Bahamas.

Priscilla is survived by her sons James (Cecilia) of South Whitehall Township, Peter of Bethlehem, Paul of Westminster, Colo., and Andrew (Lori) of Broomall, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Laura Anne, Andrea Joy, Drew, Dean, Taylor, Anthony, and Gina; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, John, and Peter, and a sister, Esther.

A memorial service will be held at Kirkland Village auditorium on Monday, February 9, at 10:30 am. Visitation followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 10, at 10:45 am in St Anne's Catholic Church.

Condolences and thoughts may be recorded at www.pearsonfh.com. The Pearson Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
