Priscilla Casto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel on Sep. 22, 2025.
Priscilla (Parcell) Casto, 84, peacefully passed away on Tuesday morning, September 16, 2025. She closed her eyes to rest and opened them in Heaven, greeted by her Savior and her dear husband Bill, who had been waiting for her since 2020.

She was born November 27, 1940, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Leonard Parcell and Geneva (Gregory) Parcell. A graduate of Martinsville High School, she earned her B.A. in Education from Malone College (now Malone University) in Canton, Ohio, where she met William "Bill" E. Casto. She helped Bill with his typing at Malone. Maybe he needed the help, or maybe he simply wanted to spend more time with his smart and attractive new friend. The college sweethearts were married on January 27, 1962 to become Mr. & Mrs. Casto.

Priscilla began her career as an early-elementary teacher with Canton City Schools, and the Castos moved to Mount Gilead in 1979 to complete their calling and vision for nursing home care for seniors. She lived her faith openly-mission-minded, generous, and a prayer warrior who prayed for every family member by name each day. She taught women's Bible studies for years and even hoped to regain strength to teach again. Determined and candid (yes, a touch stubborn), she was strong in conviction and deeply caring. She showed horses for many years, and there were always dogs at her side. She loved the Bible too much to choose a single favorite verse.

Bill and Priscilla began their careers as teachers, but caring for their own parents during end-of-life difficulties led to a vision and heart for our senior population. Their passion and concern for our seniors led to the development and management of local nursing homes as well as the assisted living that Wedgewood provides. They made the decision in 2006 to commit solely to Wedgewood Estates, leading to the sale of their nursing homes.

"The very core values which inspired the Castos, and their greatest desire at Wedgewood, is to fulfill the teaching of Jesus Christ by first loving the Lord, and second, to love our neighbors as ourselves."

Surviving are her sons Randall (Lori) Casto of Lexington, Scott A. (Janell) Casto of Wheaton, IL, and Eric (Elizabeth) Casto of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Tyler (Halle) Johnson, Isabel Casto, Maria Casto, Matthew (Ann) Casto, Andrew Casto, Claire Casto, William Casto, Anna Casto, Caleb Casto, Kelsey (Jake) Norton, and Victoria Casto; great-grandchildren Chloe Norton and Brantley Johnson; and her brother Wayne (Brenda) Parcell of Greenville, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Bill (2020).

Calling hours are Sunday, October 12, 2025, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Homes (2553 Lexington Ave., Mansfield, OH 44904). The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., led by her three sons. Burial will follow at Shauck Cemetery.
