With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Priscilla Margaret Lara, age 91, affectionately known as "Pachie" to her family. Born on December 27, 1933, in
Wellington, KS, Priscilla made her journey to eternal peace on August 9, 2025. A compassionate, loving, thoughtful, and funny woman, Priscilla's presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her legacy is one of selfless service, unwavering love for her family, and a contagious joy for life.
Priscilla spent the majority of her life in Wellington before moving to Wichita in 2016 to live with her son. Over the years, she made significant contributions to her community, both professionally and personally. She served as a nurse aide and later as a para for the Wellington school district, bringing warmth and care to her role. In her retirement, she found joy in helping her grandchildren, spending time at garage sales, visiting friends, and volunteering at the local thrift shop. Priscilla's grandchildren were her pride and joy, the most important people in her life.
Priscilla is survived by her son, Richard (Tracy) Lara, her grandsons, RJ (Hollie) Lara and Pedro Andres Lara, her granddaughter, Kennedee Lara, and her sisters, Teresa Caudillo, Cecilia Gonzales, and Dora Gonzales. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Jenny Gonzales, her husband, Pedro Lara, her brothers, Fred, Buddy, and Daniel Gonzales, and her sister, Carolina Lara.
Visitation for Priscilla will be on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 1-7PM with family present from 5-7PM at Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1030 Mission Road,
Wellington, Kansas, 67152. A Rosary Service will be held on the same day at 6:30 pm at the same location. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Anthony St. Rose Catholic Church, 210 N B St,
Wellington, KS 67152. Interment will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in
Wellington, Kansas.
Donations may be made in Pricilla's memory to St. Anthony St. Rose Catholic Church. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
