Priscilla Mudd Obituary

Priscilla Ann Mudd of Elizabeth, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Rivercrest Senior Living in New Albany. Pris was born on a farm in rural Ohio in October 1937, the daughter of Julius Michael Louiso and Eunice Marie Heslar Louiso. She graduated from Fayetteville Perry [OH] High School in 1955 and then from the St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. For more than 35 years Pris helped take care of others as a registered nurse in the Louisville area and remained lifelong friends with a number of her nursing school classmates and coworkers.

Pris is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of more than 60 years Don Mudd, her brothers Mike Louiso, Jerry Louiso and Joe Louiso, and her sister Florence Wabnitz. A wonderful mother and even better friend, she is survived by her children Mic Mudd (Katie), Steve Mudd (Jenn), Charley Louiso (Anna), Laura Gardner (Allen) and Tim Mudd (Marcy), five grandchildren: Heather Pettit (Brent), Jonathan Carmichael (Cara), Michael Gardner, Nicholas Mudd (Jordan), and Madeline Mudd, and her loving sister Patricia Mitchell. On too many occasions to count, Pris converted their family kitchen into a small MASH unit, helping mend bunnies, cats, guinea pigs and baby doves back to health. Pris was a voracious reader, the Bunco parties she hosted were legendary, and her homemade lasagna was the greatest on the planet. Despite their occasional hardheadedness, she demanded of her children that they work hard in school, that they clean their plates, and that they chase their dreams. When it mattered she opened their home and kitchen table to the high school basketball team to host some of the most hotly contested games of RISK Harrison County has ever known. Until her health declined in her final years, Pris had been a longtime member of the St. Peter's Parish Women's Club.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, 318 East Chestnut Street, Corydon, Indiana 47112.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 29, 2025 beginning at 3:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM, with a rosary service which will begin at 7:30 PM. A morning visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30 from 9:00 AM until the service begins. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Elizabeth/Buena Vista, Indiana.
