Priscilla Watts Obituary

Priscilla (Sis) East Watts
GREENVILLE - A beautiful life filled with love, strength, resilience, courage and faith.
On August 7, 2024, Priscilla Sherk East Watts (Sis) peacefully took God's hand and followed him home to the loving arms of her parents, Paul Farmer Sherk and Virginia Miller Sherk, her husband, (33 years) Senator John P. East, her sister and husband, Carol S. and John R. Kellum, and her very special dog, Brady.
To celebrate Sis' life, there will be a gathering of friends and family at Cypress Glen Retirement Community on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM. She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Left to cherish her memories of their (Mom/Sissie) are her daughters, Kathryn (Chip) East Harrell and husband, William (Pete) Harrell, and Martha (Marty) East Vainright and husband, Dr. Julian R. Vainright and her granddaughters, Jordan Vainright Proctor and husband, Dr. Randall L. Proctor and Jennifer Vainright Lutz and husband, Dr. Evan A. Lutz; her great-grandchildren, Christian Crew Proctor, Virginia Grace Proctor, John Wit Proctor, Paul Kip Proctor, Porter Isaiah Lutz and Noah James Lutz filled their Sissie's heart with great joy.
Sis married Lawrence A. Watts, Jr. in 1990 and they have shared 34 wonderful years together. He continues to reside at Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville, NC which has been their home for 15 years. Prior to this, they lived in Morehead City, NC. She was born in Wyomissing, PA on July 9, 1931. She graduated from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, with a major in home economics. She served on several committees while residing in Washington, DC (when husband John, was a US Senator). She also participated in several community groups in Greenville: Recreation and Parks Commission, and City of Greenville Planning and Zoning Committee. Sis was an avid tennis player and part of the early development of the tennis community in Greenville. She also loved gardening and flowers, ECU baseball, the beach, fresh NC oysters, crab legs, boiled peanuts, and other fun activities.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire Cypress Glen Retirement Community for their support, love and constant dedication. It was a wonderful decision they made to move there. The family would also like to thank the best group of caregivers there will ever be! Nancy, Sheila, Jan, Stephanie, Mary and Penny…you are so loved and appreciated.
The family sincerely requests no flowers, but if one desires, we would greatly appreciate donations to the Cypress Glen Benevolence Fund, 100 Hickory Street, Greenville, NC 27858.
Your promise revives me;
it comforts me in all my trouble.
