Queen Esther Maxwell, a beloved educator, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Chandler, Arizona, at the age of 93. She had 5 brothers and 5 sisters

She was born on December 13, 1932, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Titus and Willard Holloway. From an early age, Queen Esther developed a love for learning that would guide her life's work and passions.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and true love, Lurel D. Maxwell Sr., with whom she shared a devoted life.

She worked as an Early Childhood teacher for over 30 years and continue to do summer school until she was in her eighties.

Queen Esther dedicated her life to Christ at an early age; she attended Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ until relocating to Arizona to be closer to her daughter.

She is survived by her loving children: Lurel D. Maxwell of Kansas City, Missouri; Antonio Maxwell of Gilbert, Arizona; and Angela Ransdell (Keith) of Queen Creek, Arizona. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Marie BoBo and Barbara Holloway.

Queen Esther's legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Patrice Maxwell, Laura Maxwell, Kendria Marler, Claudia Anderson, Lurel D. Maxwell, Adam Ransdell, and Ian Ransdell; and her great-grandchildren: Adrienne and Carlie Maxwell; Juliett and Jordan Anderson; Keisha and Abigail Maxwell; Gaby, Amelia, and Genevene Marler; and Sloane and Sophia Ransdell.

She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory.

The burial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday February 11, 2026, at Gilbert Memorial Park 2100 East Queen Creek Rod, Gilbert AZ 85297
