Quentin "Troy" Crabtree (Crabby), 58, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Harvard, passed away at
his home on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
He was born on April 27, 1965 in Harvard IL, to Robert Crabtree and Betty (Crabtree) Nolen.
Quentin honorably served as a member of the Cook County Forest Preserve Police Department
for 31 years. During his service he acquired many accolades and achievements. He was
certified in boating, ATV use, snowmobile safety, and he was a Ground Search and Rescue
instructor. He repaired and rebuilt squad cars, police bikes, trailers, and boats. He designed and

He had several hobbies and interests. He was a historian and researched his genealogy. He
loved to read, draw, and was an avid bird watcher. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears,
Chicago Cubs and golf. He loved traveling, family weekends at the lake, and spending time with
family and friends; often taking charge of the grill or preparing his popular shrimp boil. Other
cherished times were his annual fishing trips with his police buddies. He was most proud of his
three children and spoke of their achievements whenever given the opportunity.
He is survived by his loving partner, Kathy "Kat" Mize, his children Nolen Crabtree (Allie Queen),
Remy (Casey Murray) Crabtree, and Abigail Crabtree (Ben Strauss), sister Eugenia (David)
Sunden. He is also survived by his former wife Laura Healy (Sanchez) as well as many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Betty (Crabtree) Nolen and Robert Crabtree, his aunts
and uncles: Barbara Baldwin, Kathern Nolen, John (Bubby) Nolen, Donald (Frog) Nolen, and
Danny Lester.

So sorry to learn of Troy's passing. Prayers your way Nolen, Rem and Abbey. Please let me know if I can do anything. A small measure of comfort is that his Dad met him in Heaven and has his arms around him.

I had the honor of receiving an award before the Cook County Board with Quentin, Shiela, and Bob back in 2009. Quentin´s sense of humor was second to none. His smile lit up the room. He was taken from us way too soon.

To the Crabtree family, you are all in my prayers during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Christopher Roy

Quintin was a good friend and coworker. He made me laugh on the job. One of the guys damaged his car explained to sergeant and Quinton said he hit a water Buffalo. He was supportive and funny. He'll be missed.
