Murry "Quinn" Toney Sr., 89, a lifelong resident of Liberty, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Quinn was born November 19,1935 to John R. Toney Sr. (Jake) and Lola Jackson Toney of the Busy Corner Community. He enjoyed trot lining, hand grabbing, hunting and visiting with his many friends at Liberty Hardware and the deer camp. He truly enjoyed playing pranks on friends and the telling of a good story. He worked and owned the Liberty Hardware for nearly fifty years. He knew exactly what was needed to fix plumbing or build anything from chicken coops to houses. After he sold the hardware store, he took that knowledge to the Amite County Co-op and worked several more years. Quinn was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene Toney, younger brother John R. Toney Jr. (Bob), older sister Eva Toney Jackson, son Johnny Toney, step daughter Connie Durham. He is survived by his son Murry Quinn Toney Jr. (Penny), grandsons Nathan Toney (Kelly), and Matthew Toney; great grandchildren Kailey, Alexis, Aaron, Cale, Adalyn and Aceyn; older sister Fannie Case and brother-in-law Alton Case; step-daughter Bonnie Price (Clayton); step-sons B.J. Nettles Jr. and Ralph Nettles, and numerous other family and friends. Visitation is Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, Mississippi, from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Walsh, Blake Walsh, Jewel Watts, Troy Duhe, John Harvey, and Curtis Seay. Special thanks to his nurses at Compassus Hospice who cared for him so kindly. An extra special thank you to Hannah Boyanton who helped tremendously.
