Robin Wayne Andersen, 65, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at his home. He was born on October 16, 1957, in Wilmington, New Castle County, DE to the late Charles Jennings Andersen and Margaret Adelia Bolton. His father was a minister in eastern North Carolina for 6 years and in Virginia Beach, Virginia for 7 years.
Wayne graduated from Bob Jones University in 1980. He married Debbie Ann Howard in 1981 and were blessed with two children, Krista and Justin. Being called of God, they moved to Mexico in 1989.
After only several months of language training, they were called back to the states to be with Wayne’s father before he died. In route, Wayne tragically lost both his beloved wife and 5 year old daughter, Krista in a car accident. Just about a month later his father lost his battle with cancer.
Before returning to Mexico with his newly widowed mother, Peggy, he served as interim pastor for his father’s church. Wayne, his mother and surviving son, Justin, moved to Mexico City, where he continued language school and began to acclimate to the culture.
Four years later he married Marty Behn from Greenville, SC. She joined them in Mexico City and began homeschooling Justin and learning the language. Shortly thereafter the Lord gave them two more sons, Joshua and Nathanael. In the remaining years Wayne established a Reformed Baptist church and a Christian bookstore.
He is best known for directing a Spanish Reformed literature ministry, Publicaciones Faro de Gracia (Beacon of Grace Publishers), which reached multitudes of churches and ministries in Spanish-speaking countries around the world.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Martha (Marty) Susan Andersen, three sons, Justin Wayne Andersen and wife, Jenny Michelle Andersen, his grandchildren whom he adored, Harper Ann Andersen, Liam Elias Andersen, and Everly Grace Andersen; Joshua Wayne Andersen, and Nathanael Jennings Andersen and wife Rachel Perry Andersen. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Adelia Bolton and siblings, Kim Alicia Beall (Bruce R. Beall), Cynthia Lynn Smith (George Smith), Elizabeth Jane Iman (Nathan S. Iman), John Stephen Andersen (Debbie Andersen), David Jonathan Andersen (Eunjoo Andersen), and Mary Margaret Reynolds (Steve Reynolds), as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie Howard Andersen, a daughter, Krista Andersen, and his father, Charles Jennings Andersen.
Wayne had a ministry of supplying free Spanish Bible study books to pastors, especially those in Cuba and Panama. Anyone that would like to make a donation that would purchase Bible Study books in the Spanish language in memory of Mr. Andersen may contact Sherrie Kinnison at 336-264-0331.
