R. Wayne Stephan

Mr. R. Wayne Stephan, age 85 of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on April 7, 1937 in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Raymond "Bill" and Virgie Browning Stephan. He grew up in Jefferson County and graduated from Central High School in 1955. He then graduated from Hanover College in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. On June 11, 1957, he was united in marriage to Frances E. Whitaker at the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church. This happy union of 65 years was blessed with a daughter, Evonne, and a son Darren. Wayne spent seven years in the U. S. Army and the National Guard. He lived in Carrollton, Kentucky for 25 years, retiring from Dow Corning Corp. as an analytical chemist after 28 years of service. Wayne was a faithful member of the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church. Wayne enjoyed helping his brother, Monty with the family farming. He was a devoted husband, loving dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Wayne died on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 4:15 p.m. at his home in Madison, Indiana with his loving family at his side.
A LOVING FAMILY
Wayne will be missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Frances E. Whitaker Stephan of Madison, Indiana; his loving son, Darren Stephan and his wife Sherri of Crestwood, Kentucky; his loving grandchildren, Ryan, Caitlin, Tara, and Nickolas; his great grandchildren, Lance, Gabriella, Xavier, and Isabella; his brother, Monty L. Stephan and his wife Nancy of Madison, Indiana; his nieces, Nathalie and Lisa; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond "Bill" Stephan, died July 3, 1992, his mother, Virgie Browning Stephan, died May 13, 2007, and his daughter, Evonne L. Stephan, died April 12, 2010.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., by Dr. Kevin Crouch and Pastor Mark Lee at the Rykers Ridge Baptist Church 2601 North Ryker's Ridge Road near Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Rykers Ridge New Cemetery near Madison, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may visit Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church, 2601 North Ryker's Ridge Road near Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
