Rachel Bennett Obituary
June 6, 1953 - December 13, 2022 Palmdale - Rachel Carmichael Bennett, age 69, passed away on the morning of December 13, 2022. Rachel was born to George Kennedy Carmichael and Rachel Darden Carmichael. For more than three decades, Rachel worked as an administrator and ultimately vice president then consultant in the healthcare industry, specifically for convalescent homes. She was passionate about not only her residents, but the people that worked for her. Rachel married Bill Bennett in 1974 and they had two children together, Paul and Rachel Darden. She and her children moved to Orange County after her divorce and subsequently opened her home to her childhood best friend, Diane Crete and Diane's three children. For seven years, the seven of them lived together as a singular family. Rachel was the personification of love. She was a lifelong, devout Christian and lived her life according to the precepts of the Bible. She was a known prayer warrior. Rachel was incredibly generous with everything she had; always giving to others to show them they were special. Her favorite thing to do, other than shopping at her beloved Nordy's, was spending time with her family - especially her children and grandchildren - whether it was cuddling on the couch watching movies and eating popcorn or going on trips to Hawaii. Rachel also had a very close-knit group of women friends cultivated from childhood, work, and church whom she loved to be with. She hosted a women's Monday Night Bible Study for more than 20 years. For half her life, Rachel went by her childhood nickname, Candy. Purple has always been her favorite color and she loved to listen to Christmas songs year-round. Rachel is proceeded in death by her father, George, her mother, Rachel, and her sister, Anne. She is survived by her brother Kennedy, both of her children, Paul (Mary Kate) and Rachel Darden (Jose), and her grandchildren Wyatt and Emily (from Paul) and Jaylee, Annealea, Darden, and Alexia (from Rachel Darden and Jose), as well as her nephew, Bill and his family.
