Rachel Orthy Gilreath, 78, of Chesnee, South Carolina, passed away surrounded by family at her home on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Born in Tryon, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy Pettit and Frances Kathleen Cox Pettit.

Rachel was a proud graduate of Chapman High School "Class of 1965" and spent many years working in the textile industry. She was of Baptist faith and cherished her family deeply.

Rachel loved to visit her great grandchildren at the beach. She was famous for her delicious peanut butter balls at Christmas and homemade "Martha Washington" coconut candy. She loved baking cakes for family member's birthdays and made sure to send birthday cards to everyone she loved.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Kirby (Tim) of Woodruff, Roy Wayne "Buddy" Robertson of Chesnee, and Charles "Chuck" Richard Robertson of Chesnee; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Roark of Inman; grandchildren, Amber Wofford (Tracy) of Conway, Brandon Robertson of Chesnee, David Harrill, her caregiver of the home, also of Chesnee, and Tylor Robertson (Ashley) of Spartanburg; great-grandchildren, Daniel Wofford of Columbia attending University of South Carolina, and Matilda Wofford of Conway.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Shelby Gean Pettit.

In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to those who showed care and kindness during her final days.
