Rachel Ruthel Hazelwood, a beloved resident of Cartersville, GA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on Tuesday, May 26th, 1942, in Adairsville, GA, Rachel's life was a testament to love, family, community, and faith.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Thomas Pittman and Julia Nettie Pittman, her devoted husband, David Hazelwood of 59 years, and her siblings Tommy Jr. (Pat) Pittman, Arlene (Johnny) Hazelwood, Dorothy Sue (Odell) Plott, and Harold Pittman. She was also preceded by her sister-in-law, Almer Hazelwood, her brother-in-law, James William (Delora) Hazelwood, and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Clark.

She is survived by her adoring children, Diane (Brian) Evans and Dell Hazelwood, and cherished grandchildren, Landi (Will) McCrory and Taylor (Holli) Evans. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Paisley Evans, Brantley New, Waylon Evans, Easton New, Beau McCrory, Kenly Williams, Walker McCrory, and Winsleigh McCrory. Rachel will be fondly remembered by her sister, Faye Stephens, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her poodle Lulu, whose compassion and dedication were deeply appreciated.

Rachel had a fulfilling career as a seamstress at Cartersville Undergarment, where she was known for her meticulous craftsmanship and dedication. Beyond her work, she found joy in the music ministries at Clear Creek Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and she loved playing the piano. Her enthusiasm for sports and her support for the Atlanta Braves were eclipsed only by her love for watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. Rachel also enjoyed playing video games and doing word searches. Her warmth, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cartersville, GA, on Thursday, January 15th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
