Rachel D. Belton Parker, affectionately known to many as "Boot" was born on April 6, 1951, to Freddie and Viola Thomas Belton in Camden, South Carolina.
Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Paterson, New Jersey, in 1956, where Rachel grew up and received her education in the Paterson Public School system. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to obtain her General Educational Diploma in 1971.
Rachel's professional journey was characterized by her unwavering dedication to the Paterson Housing Authority, where she served diligently until her retirement in 1996. Rachel's impeccable fashion and style were just one facet of Rachel's vibrant personality. She was known for being a spirited, loving, and selfless individual whose presence could brighten any room. Rachel's love for her family was profound, and she embraced every role with enthusiasm and grace.
Rachel was an active and devoted member of Grace of God Church, where she served as a Deaconess. Her passion for her faith was evident in her tireless service and the inspiration she provided to her church community. Rachel's commitment to her faith extended into her community service. She took on the role of secretary on the BrookSloate Terrace Board of Directors with vigor and provided leadership that was deeply valued.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Viola Thomas Belton, and her siblings, Carrie Belton Brevard, Irene Belton Scott, Barbara Belton, Hattie Belton Williams, Joseph Belton, and Mary Belton.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving husband, Carl Parker; her son, Duwayne Belton; her grandsons, Deandre Belton, Kendale Butler, and Jayden Belton; her granddaughters, Cecilia Belton and Shania Belton; her great-grandson, Kaiden Butler; her stepchildren, Carlina Curry, David Parker, Temmeka McMillian, and LamarCarl Parker; her siblings, Bernice Belton James, Bessie McCray, James Belton, Eugene Belton, and George Belton; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and special friends, including Claudia Bayona.
Rachel D. Belton Parker will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on through the lives of those she touched.
