Rachel Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Family Mortuary - Alamosa on Jan. 12, 2026.
Rachel Louise Williams, known affectionately to her friends and family as Louise or Weezie, passed away peacefully in Del Norte, Colorado, on January 9th, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on April 20th, 1936, in Nucla, Colorado, to the late Edward and Adeline Cunningham Draves, Louise's life was a rich tapestry of love, creativity, and dedication to her family.

Louise's warmth and selflessness touched all who knew her. Throughout her life, her actions consistently demonstrated the importance she placed on family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted sons Charles (Pam) Williams of Hooper, CO, and John (Trish) Williams, three cherished grandchildren, David (Tammy) Williams of Arizona, Darren Williams of Kansas, and Jamie (Jes) Johnson of Texas, as well as her six adored great-granddaughters, Sognira (Thomas) Davis, Brea-Anna Williams, Destinay Williams, Hailey Johnson, Kinsley Johnson and Joley Johnson. Her legacy is further carried on by her brother, Leslie Draves of Colorado, and her sister, Mary Ann McKee of New Mexico, alongside numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Louise was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul Edison Williams with whom she shared a passion for movies, often watching them together as she crocheted or embroidered. This passion for hand work was one of Louise's defining traits-her signature talent that resulted in her index finger resting flat from the countless hours she joyfully dedicated to her craft. Her handmade king-size quilts, intricately embroidered or crocheted, stand as a testament to her incredible skill and patience.

Also preceding her in death were Daughter in Law Beth Elaine Williams, Granddaughter Amenda Williams and Great Grandson Sebastian Williams

In her earlier years, besides being an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she was not only skilled with a crochet hook or sewing needle, but her green thumb also yielded bountiful gardens from which she relished in canning the fruits of her labor. Preserving these traditions, as well as the beauty she captured through her love of photography and letter writing, Louise has left an indelible mark not only on paper and film but in the hearts of those she loved.

Louise's earlier years were filled with adventure-the joy of riding horses, the tranquility of fishing trips, and the camaraderie found in hunting and camping with her husband and family.

Cremation was chosen and a private family memorial service will be held in the summer. To leave online condolences, tributes and words of comfort for Louise's family please visit www.RogersFunerals.com
