Rachel Zuniga Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hurley Funeral Home - Pleasanton on Feb. 3, 2026.
Mary Rachel Martinez Zuniga passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 62. She was born in Pleasanton on June 29, 1963, to Rosendo T. Martinez and Mary Ola (Ogden) Martinez.

Rachel is leaving behind a legacy of devotion, warmth, and quiet dedication. She lived a life defined by service to others, deep family pride, and a joyful appreciation for the simple pleasures that brought people together.

Rachel devoted more than 40 years to a career in banking, including 25 years of dedicated service at Atascosa National Bank. Known for her strong work ethic, professionalism, and genuine care for customers and colleagues alike, she took great pride in her work and the relationships she built over the decades.

A 1981 graduate of Poteet High School, Rachel was a member of the school's dance team, an early reflection of the commitment she carried throughout her life. Those who knew her remember her as dependable, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Rachel found great joy in cooking, especially for family gatherings and holidays. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and tradition, and she was especially known for her oatmeal cake and chocolate chip cookies-recipes that will forever be tied to cherished memories shared around the table. Cooking for others was one of the many ways she expressed her love.

In her quieter moments, Rachel enjoyed antiquing, often spending time exploring antique shops in Fredericksburg. She also had a deep appreciation for family history and could frequently be found researching, preserving, and scrapbooking treasured family stories, ensuring that memories and traditions would live on for generations.

Rachel will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to family, and the care she showed in every part of her life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, service, and tradition will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
