It is with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rae Rogers Benson on August 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Mom was born in Los Angeles, California and was the eldest of four siblings and only daughter of Rachel and Jack Rogers. Mom met the love of her life, Carl Eugene (Gene) Benson, and they were married in the Los Angeles Temple June 15, 1956. The family moved to Utah in 1968 and settled in Grantsville to raise their family. When the children were grown, she and
Gene moved to Layton and then Huntsville Alabama.
Mom worked for several years at the Grantsville High School’s lunchroom and loved it and the women she worked with. After Gene retired, they both worked at Walmart, and she enjoyed being a greeter and developed relationships with many customers. Mom had a lifelong love of reading and was always looking for a good “mystery novel”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, siblings and two oldest children, Carla and Dennis. She is survived by her four children: sons Craig (Teri) and Terry (Teresa), daughters Gail (Kelly) Williams and Pam (Paul) Drake, seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday September 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
