Raelene Danette Helzer, age 65 of Greeley, Passed away Monday June 17, 2024 in her home. She was born on April 30, 1959, in Burlington, Colorado. Raelene was the daughter of Dolores (Schaal) and Elmer Dobler. She graduated from Bethune High School in 1977, then attended nursing school in Sterling and graduated in 1979. She had her firstborn, Eric, in December of 1982. She and Eric moved to Greeley, where she worked at Banner Hospital for over thirty years, which was the foundation for a forty-year nursing career.
Raelene was a cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose energy warmed around her. Her love for her children, Eric and Macaela, affected her so much that she loved several special people as her own and treated them the same way. She lived a life full of love, laughter, singing, and unwavering strength. Her strength and faith in Jesus allowed her to fight a war inside her body. Breast cancer was never in her plan. With an early diagnosis, a great team of doctors, fantastic co-workers, and the constant support of her loving family, she fought a hard battle and won that war. Those who knew her laughter, love of life, and perfumes remember Raelene. She had an endless capacity for compassion by putting others before herself. Her laughter and energy were a source of comfort to her friends throughout the years. Raelene had a passion for cooking and baking. She entered as many events as she could. She won the Green Chili contest at church every year. Anytime possible, she enjoyed herself, entertained others, and sang Karaoke.
Raelene took pride in being a nurse and loved her co-workers and residents. She loved to garden and was proud of her beautiful flowers. She loved her dogs, Mindy, Bobo, and Laney.
Finally, yet importantly, her favorite topic of discussion was Eric and Macaela, and she was proud of them. Raelene leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.
She is preceded in death by her Grandparents Emil and Pauline Schaal, Father Elmer Dobler, and several Aunts and Uncles.
Raelene is survived by her Son, Eric Helzer, of Littleton, Colorado; Daughter, Macaela Helzer, of Westminster, Colorado; Mother, Dolores Dobler; Brothers, Jim (Cheryl) Dobler and Raymond (Velda) Dobler, all of Burlington, Colorado. Her bonus children, Garth Nicholas of Buffalo, Wyoming, Katrina Agers-Helzer of Dayton, Ohio, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who are left to cherish her amazing memory also survive her.
