Rafael S Ortega Polo

Rafael Santiago Ortega Polo was a mentor and friend to many. He passed away on September 4, 2021 in Palisades Park, New Jersey, surrounded by his loving wife, his three devoted Daughters and Grandchildren. He was 90.
Born September 20, 1930 in Cartagena, Colombia to Miguel Ortega and Francisca Polo.
Abuelo or Papi AKA Charles Bronson was known and loved by many and was remembered for his teasing jokes and his wildly entertaining stories. Rafa loved his native country Colombia where he spent time with family and friends. He gave his wisdom and knowledge and opened his home to many that followed when he migrated to the United States. Rafa gave his unconditional love, to his children, and grandchildren, he also had a passionate love affair with Pepsi, Black coffee and the daily newspaper.
Rafael is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Clarina, his three daughters who inherited his kindness, compassion and wit, Diana, Maria and Victoria, his grandchildren, Mark, Christian, Luis, Kathia, Juliana, Natalia, Angelina, and son In Laws Lucho, Bob and Jamie.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, September 8th from 5-9 pm at the Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Ave., Ridgefield NJ 201.945.5032. Gathering on Thursday, September 9th at 9 am at the funeral home to attend the Funeral Mass at 10 am St. Michael RC Church, Palisades Park. Final prayers at the crematory to follow at Cedar Lawn Crematory, Paterson, NJ.
