Rajith Thomas Kurien George was called Home on March 9, 2026 at the age of 37. He was born on August 15, 1988 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India and moved to the United States at the age of 6 years old. As a child and teenager, it was clear to all that Rajith was brilliant, often outwitting his parents and teachers. He was musically talented, often regaling people with his beautiful voice. He was also a fearless skier, a skilled golfer, a red belt in Tai Kwon Do, and an accomplished long distance runner. His path to high achievement was cut short when he was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy, a progressively debilitating disease, at the age of 17. Despite this cruel twist of fate, Rajith always maintained his positive attitude and loving nature. While his contemporaries earned worldly achievements, Rajith’s accomplishments are measured in his resilience, patience, fortitude and faith in the face of incredible adversity.
Rajith never lost his sense of humor, often laughing at himself and teasing others out of bad moods. He was usually the center of family stories due to his sense of adventure and mischievous nature and yet he was always willing to shine the spotlight on others. He was incredibly gentle and patient with both his elder and younger family members alike – taking time to teach his grandparents how to use their cellphones and sitting on the floor to build legos with his nephews. He loved Anime, Pokemon, listening to music (loudly), boardgames, theme parks and spending time with his family. Most importantly, he never allowed his disease to define him and lived his life to capacity.
He is survived by his parents, Ravi and Susan George, his sister, Renuka George, his brother-in-law, Burke Gallagher, his 2 nephews Rohan and Kiran Gallagher, his grandmother, Grace Thomas, and very large family filled with aunts, uncles and cousins who all loved him and will miss him greatly. Rajith was simply the best of all of us and we are all the better for having known him.
