John “Jack” Walter DeLine, age 86, went home peacefully to the Father on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
He was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 1939, at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colorado, the youngest child of Edwin and Leda DeLine. Jack was the last surviving sibling of Joan, Bob, Jim, and Bill.
The DeLine family were parishioners at St. Francis de Sales Parish, where Jack received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. That parish remained close to his heart, and it is from there that he will be laid to rest.
Jack attended St. Francis de Sales School and later Regis High School, where he enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, and baseball. He went on to study Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. After graduating, he spent a year at Stanford pursuing his master’s studies, but his plans changed when he met Mary Anne Leonard. The two were married on August 8, 1964, at Blessed Sacrament Parish, beginning a marriage that would span 61 joyful years.
Jack loved sports and enjoyed both playing and following them throughout his life. Golf, football, sailing and fishing were among his favorites, and he rarely passed up the chance to enjoy any of them.
Those who knew Jack will remember his warmth, his generous spirit, and his wonderful sense of humor. He had an impeccable memory and delighted family and friends with stories that never seemed to lose their charm. He “never met a doughnut he didn’t like,” and he always made time for a conversation. Jack was a true gentleman who treated everyone he met with kindness.
A faithful Catholic, Jack experienced a deeper conversion later in life through the Neocatechumenal Way. The community became a second family to him and remained an important part of his life. He had a deep love for the Blessed Mother and the Holy Trinity.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Anne, and by his greatest legacy: their eight children - Annie DeLine; John DeLine; Mark and Ann DeLine; Megan and Will Fusselman; Katie and Fr. Juraj Potocky Terek; Mary Clare and Carl Sabol; Monica and Javier Arias; and Elizabeth and Stefano Gennarini. He was the proud grandfather of 53 grandchildren, six of whom are in heaven, and one great-grandchild.
His family stands as a testament to his openness to life, his witness to the Gospel, and his hope in the promises of Jesus Christ.
Jack was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
