Ralph Carlone Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 17, 2024.
Ralph Michael Carlone passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 16, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born in Summitville, Ohio on February 4,1941 to the late Biaggio "Curly" Carlone and late Elizabeth "Betty" (Paternostro) Carlone Schweitzer.
Ralph lived most of his life in Canton, graduating from Glenwood High School and attended Stark State College where he received an Associate Degree in Architecture. He soon realized that sitting behind a desk was not for him and started at the Timken Co in 1962.
Ralph met the love of his life, Linda Fowler in 1962 and married her on November 2, 1963. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 2, 2023, with a gathering of dear family and friends. Together they raised their two sons, Brian Michael and Kevin Paul.
Ralph retired after 30 years of service from the Timken Co. in 1992. For the first 10 years after his retirement, Ralph and Linda operated a woodworking craft business, where Ralph would do the woodworking and Linda would do the painting. Ralph was an avid gardener who always had extra vegetables to give away to his relatives, friends, neighbors and to anybody else who take them! Ralph and Linda enjoyed fishing, especially at Rice Lake in Canada, every summer for over 40 years. Ralph also enjoyed many years of walleye fishing with his son Brian on many of the local lakes and Lake Erie. Ralph's greatest joy was being "Papa" to his five grandchildren. He enjoyed spending his retirement years with them and NEVER missed a dance recital, school program, or sporting event even in the rain or snow. He was so proud of them all!
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his stepfather, Albert "Dave" Schweitzer and son, Kevin Carlone. He is survived by wife, Linda; sisters, Sharon (Debbie Murphy) Schweitzer & Linda Meade; step-brother, Lee (Pat) Lash; sister-in-law, Janice Holton; brother-in-law, William "Bill" Fowler; son Brian (Lynn) Carlone; daughter-in-law, Melinda DeHoff; grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Carlone-Losi, Marisa (Sean) Calhoun, Brianna (Jon Marsh) Carlone, Ty DeHoff, & Alaina Carlone; and great-grandson, Robert Michael Calhoun.
A visitation for Ralph will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd NW, Canton, Ohio 44718, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Ralph's family would like to thank doctors, nurses, and staff at Aultman Hospital and Bethany for the love and care he received over these last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: St. Jude Children Research Hospital, Make-A-Wish, or a charity of your choice.

Ralph was a great guy. Very sorry for your loss. I remember visiting the family growing up, using those great dogs as a pillow to watch TV. I was googling about Ralph and Linda because I wanted to let them know that my father, Don Gohn, passed on 3/28/24. I now realize that Ralph was part of the welcoming committee in Heaven. They passed less than 2 weeks apart. God bless them both and your family. Shelly (Gohn) Quayle

Ralph was a such a good man; kind, gentle, and generous with his time. He had a great laugh, a little mischief in his eyes, and a wonderful crooked smile that made others smile. This week, the world is just a little less bright, and a little less warm than it was a week ago. We are sad and will miss Ralph dearly and hold him in our hearts. We send our love to Linda, Brian, and all the rest of the Carlone and DeHoff families, and to all the siblings who will be missing Ralph as well.
