Carmen Anita Jackson

Carmen Anita Jackson passed away peacefully, surrounded by her entire family, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Canton, Ohio. She was born on May 15, 1944, in Kingsport, Tennessee. She left a legacy of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Carmen was a private and thoughtful woman, someone who valued peace, independence, and the comfort of her own space. Though she kept much of her life close to her heart, her love for her children was always clear and constant. They were the center of her world and the source of her greatest pride.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald (Gary) L. Jackson; her parents, James E. Greenway and Minnie Burnette Greenway; and her sister, Leona Fox.

Carmen is survived by her four children - son, Tony Jackson (and his wife Dee Jackson), her daughters Renee Jackson-Dumas, Stephanie Staunton (and her husband Thorne Staunton) and Cheryl Strain (and her husband Kevin Strain), all will forever carry her memory with them.

She was also blessed with nine grandchildren: Sheena Jackon, Brandon Dumas, Chantalle Walker, Richard Patterson, Davontae Jackson, Davian Jackson, Maurice Turner, Romello Patterson, and Darien Jackson. Additionally, she was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren, each one a reflection of the love and legacy she leaves behind.

A woman of faith, Carmen was a devoted member of Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton, Virginia, under the leadership of Pastor Jerome A. Barber. Her quiet commitment to her church community was an important part of her life and a source of strength and comfort.

Carmen's life was not defined by outward recognition, but by the steady, enduring love she offered to those she cherished most. Her family will remember her gentle spirit, her resilience, and the quiet ways she showed her care.
