Ralph Dennis

Ralph Dennis, Harrington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the Genesis-Milford Center, he was 82. Ralph was born in Lancaster, PA to the late, Raymond and Clara Dennis.
Ralph was a hard worker and wore many hats. He mainly was a truck driver. Driving for Burris Foods and D and B Transportation for 45 years. He also recently worked for Atlantic Auto Brokers of Harrington. Ralph also trained horses for various owners at Harrington Raceway.
When not hard at work, Ralph loved hunting, especially deer. He enjoyed roaming the countryside with his binoculars looking for deer. He also enjoyed cutting grass especially on his new John Deere mower. Pac-Man was one of his guilty pleasures that he loved to play. Meeting his buddies, Albert Ratledge and Joe Collison, among others, at Rudy's Restaurant for coffee and "talk shop" was something he did almost every morning.
Although he appeared to be rough around the edges, Ralph was a softie at heart. He cared for his family greatly and always looked out for them. He was a great jokester and always had a joke or tale to tell. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Nancy Thompson, Raymond Dennis, Roy Dennis, and Richie Dennis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janice Dennis; son, James R. Dennis; daughter, Donna VanDenHeuvel; son in law Kenneth VanDenHeuvel, brother, Robert Dennis; grandchildren, Brittany Porter, Courtney Taylor, Destiney Taylor, Alisyn Dennis, James M. Dennis, Amira Dennis, Collin Dennis, Emilee VanDenHeuvel; 9 great grandchildren and extended family.
A memorial service for Ralph will take place on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 1 PM with a visitation starting at 12 PM, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE.
