Ralph French Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory - Ball on Dec. 1, 2025.
Ralph "Chip" Wilbur French, Jr., beloved husband and devoted outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025 at his residence.
Born on July 7, 1943, Chip was the son of the late Ralph Wilbur French of Massachusetts and Mary Harbot French of Sumter County, South Carolina. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John French and Albert French.
Chip is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Godchaux French; his children, Todd French, Tina Perry French, and Angela French Weisinger; and six cherished grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Chip found his greatest peace and happiness in the outdoors-fishing quiet waters, camping beneath open skies, and hunting with deep respect for the land. He was a skilled marksman and bush crafter, always at home with a project in his hands. A dedicated health enthusiast and loyal gym-goer, Chip lived each day with strength, gratitude, and intention.
He will be remembered for his steady spirit, his love of nature, and the warmth and generosity he shared with all who knew him. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Ralph "Chip", please visit our floral store.

Yesterday

Chip was always special to me. We went to Elementary School together. Years later he became my brother in law. We were living in the same area when Tina and Todd were very young. His sense of humor was amazing. He could make me laugh like nobody else could. I´ll always treasure memories of him.
