Vivian Whittle Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory - Ball on Dec. 4, 2025.
A devoted wife, mother, friend, artist, and scholar, Vivian Louise Whittle, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family and the grace of the Lord she served throughout her long and remarkable life.
Born with a spirit of quiet strength and curiosity, she spent much of her life as a proud Air Force wife. Alongside her beloved husband, she embraced the adventure of military life, living at bases across the United States and abroad. Together, they forged lifelong friendships, created memories in far away places, and ultimately made their home at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Never one to let opportunity pass her by, she pursued education with purpose and excellence. She earned her degree from Louisiana College and later attended LSU Law School in Baton Rouge, where she graduated at the top of her class-an achievement that reflected her deep intellect, discipline, and determination. She went on to build a respected career as a practicing attorney in Alexandria, serving her community with integrity and compassion until her retirement.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a long-time member of Pineville Park Baptist Church, she was a steady presence, offering kindness, warmth, and encouragement to all who knew her.
Creativity flowed naturally through her hands. She was an accomplished artist who found joy in painting, and many of her works continue to brighten homes and hearts. During their retirement years, she and her husband traveled the country in their RV with close friends, savoring months-long journeys filled with laughter, fellowship, and scenic beauty. Along the way, they also shared a special creative partnership: while he carved and she painted, they brought to life beautifully handcrafted pieces under the name Whittlestix, a labor of love that blended their talents and deep companionship.
She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family, her pursuit of knowledge, her faith, and the gentle, artistic soul that touched so many lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brodie and Ellen Toller; husband of 62 years, Edwin Whittle; son, Skip Whittle and wife Jacqueline; and sister, Val Brewer.
Her legacy lives on in those who loved her, learned from her, and were inspired by her extraordinary life. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Whittle (Barbara); grandchildren, Michael Whittle (Amy), John Whittle, James Whittle, Sarah Whittle, and Danielle Whittle; and great grandson, Brodie Whittle.
