Ralph D. Gregg Jr., age 70, of Tulare went home to be with the lord peacefully Thursday morning in his home with his devoted and loving wife, Idalina Gregg, by his side. He was born to Mamie Jean Simas and Ralph D. Gregg Sr. on June 27th, 1954, in Hanford. He was the 5th born out of 7 siblings. In spite of a hard childhood, he persevered. Ralph met Idalina Labandeira through his good friend Tony Labandeira, Ida's older brother. Idalina quickly fell in love with Ralph's infectious personality and unique sense of humor. Five years later, with the permission of her father, John Labandeira, they were wed on September 25, 1976. They started a family in 1980 with their first-born son, Ralph "Ryan" Gregg followed by a daughter, Melaine Nichole Gregg (Lopez) and lastly another son, John Eric Gregg. Ralph spoiled his children and never let them go wanting but still raised them to be kind, considerate adults. Ralph treated his wife like a queen and always tended to her and the children's needs before his own. He shared many milestones with his family such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, vacations and holidays. He made great memories for all those around him, but the most precious memories were simply experiencing him. The stories, the jokes everyone tended to gravitate towards him. Especially his granddaughters who he was utterly consumed by, entrenching himself in their everyday lives. Ralph was a standout as a lifelong Pepsi Cola employee of 42 and a half years. He excelled in every position he was assigned from warehouse to side loader, management, and especially sales. He always took care of his customer even on his free time or even if it wasn't his job such as fixing a fountain machine. Ralph earned many accolades and won numerous prizes and contests. For example, a trip to the Bahamas and Barbados. He was inducted into the Pepsi Cola "Ring of Honor" in 2002. This is one of Pepsi's most prestigious awards. As a result, Ralph and Idalina were flown to New York for an all expenses paid trip where a ceremony was held for him and others throughout the US. He retired from Pepsi in 2015. Ralph was many things to many people a driven, hard-working man with a heart as big as his laugh. He never hesitated to help a person, family, neighbor or stranger. The kind of man that would kick your butt then buy you a beer afterwards. A man's man that shaped all the young men in his life or even a 2nd father in many ways to his nieces and nephews, whether it was directly or through his shining example. Ralph loved to build cars and was a self-taught mechanic. He built his first engine when he was 12 and never looked back. He was the family mechanic and the first person anyone called anytime a relative had car trouble. He flipped countless cars to keep his family ahead and built himself a few toys as well. But his baby was his 1941 "'39 Special" Buick that he built specifically to travel to car shows with his family. He was always at Ozzie's shop or the wrecking yard building something. He gave all 3 children their first car, which he built. He married off his only daughter to Trini Lopez in 2012 and he welcomed his beautiful granddaughters in the next few years after. He was present for the marriages of his son John to wife, Britni, and his son Ryan to wife, Megan. The Buick was show cased in all 3 weddings. In retirement, he dedicated his life to family, spending as much time with his granddaughters as possible. Ralph was the "yard guy" for his busy children, helping them put their new homes together. Ralph talked Idalina into acquiring a "time share" just to get her out of the house, giving her and their children more precious memories.as if he knew This is an inside joke: he was always "going to Africa" but this time it's going to be a long "2 or 3 days". He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Idalina Labandeira Gregg, his three children and their spouses, Ryan Gregg (Megan), Melaine Lopez (Trini) and John Eric Gregg (Britni) and his granddaughters Bella, Sofia and Gianna Lopez. He is preceded in death by his parents Mamie Jean Gregg and Ralph D. Gregg Sr., his siblings Margret Bly, Marie Van Order, Mamie Jean Surratt, Peggie Beck, Robert Gregg & Rose Gregg. Thank you for all the years of care by Dr. Pradeep Kamboj and later to the specialists Dr. Jeri Williams and Dr. Sudeep Singh. Finally, our greatest appreciation for the staff of Infinite Heart Hospice who blessed us with the most caring support during this difficult journey.
